Jacob's Name

Andrea got Jacob's name in letters for his room for his first birthday as one of his presents. This has been up a while but I have just not gotten around to taking a picture and posting it.
The colors of the letters match his room and we put these up on the wall over his crib. It is really cute and a nice addition to his room! Thank you sissy!

Busy Bodies

We have enrolled Jacob in an organized play time at Busy Bodies. It is getting so hot here already that we need something for him to be able to run around and burn off energy. This was his first day at Busy Bodies. They start the play time with circle time where there is a welcome song and some other activities that involve finger play and songs.
Then the kids have about a 1/2 hour of free play time where they can go to any part of the room they want to. Jacob migrated to the trampoline right away and it is still one of his favorite things today.
It has been a lot of fun for Tim and I to watch Jacob gain confidence each week with the different obstacles. He was a little timid on his first visit, but has pretty much mastered everything now.

As most toddlers do, he loves climbing up on everything. He is so proud of himself when he gets to the top. I am typically holding my breath as I am afraid he will fall off. Even though there is a ton of padding, it is a mommy's right to be a little nervous!
After about 30 minutes of free time, it is parachute time. There are activities on top of the parachute. This is good as mom and dad get a work out too! Then there are some activities that let the kids run under the parachute which is pretty fun.

We end the session with puppets and bubbles and then the good bye song. Jacob has really been enjoying busy bodies so we will continue to go as the thermostat is only climbing higher and higher! I am looking forward to when the weather gets cooler again so we can play in the back yard and go to the park.

First Black Eye

I forgot to take a picture sooner of Jacob's first black eye, but you can see it here a little bit in this picture. He was trying to put his sippy cup up on the counter at day care and he was not quite tall enough. So unfortunately it came back down and hit him square in the right eye. I am certain that this will be the first of many!

Mother's Day

This was my second Mother's Day with Jacob. I can't believe how fast the time has gone since he was born. It was a busy and fun weekend, but instead of telling all the stuff we did with my mom, my mother-in-law, and what Tim and Jake did for me, I decided to do a little something different with this post. Being a mom is truly the most amazing thing I have ever done in my life. I am so thankful every day for my child, my husband and my family. I decided for this post to tell you some of the things that I love the most about being Jacob's mom:

I love your perfect little face and the way it lights up when you see me and say, "mommy"!!! I love the way back of your sweet little neck smells when your head is on my shoulder. I love watching your face when you see or discover something new for the first time. I love your laugh and I love that you make me and daddy laugh every single day! I love that I want to be a better person just by your sheer presence on this earth. I love your innocent little smile so beautiful, so perfect...and I love your mischievous smile too! I love our quite time at night before you go to bed when we read books and and I sing you the same song before you go to sleep...I love watching you sleep. I love the way your hair stick out all crazy fist thing in the morning when you get up and that you call out "mama" when you are ready for me to come get you out of your crib. I love that when you fall down I can pick you up and make it all better just by holding you in my arms. I love knowing you are happy when I see you bouncing your right little leg in the stroller. I love that you are a good eater! I love it when you go off to do something on your own, but look back to see if we are watching you. I love that because of you, I am a mom and my life feels complete. You are my heart, my soul, my little man, my life...mama loves you baby boy, now and forever!

Wildlife Zoo

We went to the Wildlife Zoo over the weekend for a couple of hours and had a great time looking at all the animals. This is a smaller venue than the Phoenix Zoo so it was a perfect outing for Jacob.
Jacob was fascinated with all the animals and we were able to get pretty close to them.
We loved watching him check out all the animals. It is amazing to watch things from a child's perspective.
The little reptile and fish center was fun as the aquariums were low enough for Jacob to walk up to and get close to the animals.
One of our favorite things was feeding the Larikeets. We walked into an enclosed area that had around 50-80 birds in it. We had apples in our hands and waited for the birds to fly down to eat the apples.
Tim was great at getting the birds to come to him and eat the apples in his hand. He also helped other little kids by getting the birds on his hand and then he would pass them off to the other children.
Part way though our outing Jacob had to take a little snack break. Goldfish crackers rock when you are a little person.
We took the train ride around the park. We saw pretty much all the animals in the park on the train ride. Our favorites were the giraffes, the rhinos, the zebras and the elephants.
There was a petting zoo there too. The pygmy goats were so cute. You had to watch out for the taller goat as they were eating everything they could. I got a little nibble on my booty!
Feeding the giraffes was a lot of fun. There is a big platform that you go up on so you are way up there by their heads. They have these super long bluish tongues that you drop the feed on. They come running when they see you at the top of the platform! It was a really fun day at the Wildlife Zoo!

New Big Boy Shoes

On Sunday after church we went to the mall to get Jacob a pair of big boy shoes. We took him over to the StrideRight store and got his foot measured so that we made sure we got the right size. Jacob got his first pair of big boy tennis shoes.
He LOVES his new shoes and when you put them on him he has to run around and stop around for you. At day care, Miss Theressa said he has to show them to all the kids. He was very proud of his new shoes.
At home he was running around chasing the big ball and being silly.
New shoes are great! They can make you run very fast!
All that running around made Jacob very tired! Good night my sweet little man! You are growing up so fast!
